Iceland also heavily relies on exports in aluminum and fish products, exporting these goods mainly to the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Norway, United States, and France. The aluminum smelting industry has come under scrutiny in the past several years. Some citizens argue that the waste produced by the industry is detrimental to the environment, although the companies deny any truth in this.
Iceland receives many of its imports such as machinery, petroleum products, and food from Norway, United States, Germany, China, Brazil, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. As you can see, many of these countries also receive the majority of Iceland’s exports, so it’s kind of like a trade relationship. Countries rely on Iceland for fish and aluminum while Iceland relies on other countries for oil and machinery. Iceland’s imports and exports are both examples of economic globalization.
I think Iceland's globalization has had an equal effect on men and women since men and women are both highly involved in the work force. I think that Iceland's tourist industry and aluminum industry are very beneficial to the country's well being but I wonder if the continued wear on the environment will have lasting negative effects.
